Dr. Cameron Durrant
Founder, Chairman, President and CEO
Dr. Cameron Durrant is the Founder of PediatRx Inc., having conceived of and started
the company based on his knowledge of the pediatric, hospital and oncology sectors
and the unmet medical need that exists. Dr. Durrant is also the Executive Chairman
of Anavex Life Sciences Corp. (AVXL:OB) a publicly traded drug development company
with programs in central nervous systems disorders and cancer. He has deep experience
in healthcare and pharmaceuticals and served most recently as Worldwide Vice President,
Global Strategic Marketing, Infectious Diseases for Johnson & Johnson between
March 2007 and December 2009. Dr. Durrant was a management consultant between January
2006 and February 2007, interim President and CEO of Spherics, Inc. in early 2006
and President and CEO of PediaMed Pharmaceuticals, a private pediatrics-focused
specialty pharmaceutical company (which was sold to Connetics) between May 2003
and December 2005. Dr. Durrant has also held executive positions with Merck &
Co, Glaxo Smith Kline PLC and Pharmacia Corporation (now part of Pfizer Inc.) where
he was the Global Vice President for Infectious Diseases, before taking a senior
staff position.
Dr. Durrant is a founding board member of Bexion Pharmaceuticals, a private oncology
research and development company with therapeutics, diagnostic/imaging and drug
delivery capabilities. Dr. Durrant is a former Chairman and Board member of Pressure
Point Inc. (private medical device company); a former Board member of Topaz Pharmaceuticals
(private pediatrics company); and a former Board member of PDS Biotechnology Corp (private
nanotech oncology and infectious diseases R+D company). Dr. Durrant is currently
an advisor to Pilgrim Software.
Dr. Durrant holds an MBA (Masters in Business Administration) from Henley Management
College at Oxford and a MB and BCh (the UK equivalent to an American MD degree)
from the Welsh National School of Medicine in Cardiff, U.K. as well as several post-graduate
medical qualifications, including DRCOG (Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians
and Gynaecologists), DipCH (Diploma of Clinical and Medical Hypnotherapy) and MRCGP
(Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners).
He was a regional winner and national finalist for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur
of the Year award in 2005. He has also been nominated by peers and colleagues as
one of the 100 most inspiring people in the pharmaceutical industry in 2005, 2006,
2007 and 2010. He is a regular contributor to pharmaceutical and biotech industry
issues and debates and a sought after public speaker.
David Tousley
Director, and Chief Financial & Administrative Officer
Mr. Tousley was appointed as secretary and treasurer of PediatRx Inc. on June 19,
2010. Mr. Tousley has over 25 years of senior-level experience in biotech, specialty
pharmaceuticals and full-phase pharmaceutical companies. Since 2007, he has served
as principal of Stratium Consulting Services, specializing in strategic and financial
planning and management, corporate governance and business development.
From 2006 to 2007, he held the position of executive vice president and Chief Financial
Officer of airPharma, LLC, and served in the same capacity for PediaMed Pharmaceuticals.,
Inc. between 2004 and 2006. In 1996, Mr. Tousley joined AVAX Technologies, Inc.
as executive vice president, Chief Financial Officer and served in that position
until 2001 when he became president and Chief Operating Officer, and acting Chief
Executive Officer until his departure in 2003. Prior to AVAX, Mr. Tousley was the
Vice President Finance and Administration for Pasteur Merieux Connaught (now Sanofi
Pasteur) and was Chief Financial Officer for the U.S. operations, responsible for
all finance and administration and customer account management. Mr. Tousley is a
Certified Public Accountant in the state of New Jersey and holds an MBA in accounting
from Rutgers Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in English from Rutgers College,
both in New Jersey. Mr. Tousley is a director of Immunogenetix, Inc.
Joe Carusone
Director
Mr. Carusone has been a Director and Officer of our company since August 18, 2008.
For more than 10 years, Mr. Carusone has been involved in the founding and management
of private companies and partnerships. He has extensive experience as a liaison
between management and shareholders. Since 2001, Mr. Carusone has been Founder and
President of Primoris Group Inc., a full-service investor relations agency that
provides expertise to a wide range of clients, including biotech, mining and technology
companies. He has also been the President of Opex Energy Corp. since its inception
in August 2007.
Between 1999 and 2001, Mr. Carusone was Vice President of Operations
for StockHouse Media Corporation, a global, award-winning financial news portal.
Prior to joining StockHouse, Mr. Carusone spent eight years managing research activities
in the University of Toronto’s Institute for Aerospace Studies’ Space Robotics Group.
He holds a degree in Engineering and Applied Science from the University of Toronto.
Paul J. Richardson
Director
Mr. Richardson is a pharmaceutical senior executive with more than 30 years of experience
in US and global commercialization, product and business development, and organizational
leadership. He brings significant expertise in sales management, business development,
licensing, acquisition, commercialization and strategic marketing to PediatRx. Mr.
Richardson most recently held the position of Regional President of Pfizer’s North
America Specialty Care business unit with direct accountability for the delivery,
in 2010, of over $4.5 billion of annual revenue and associated profitability targets.
From 2006 until 2008, Mr. Richardson was Vice President and Therapeutic Cluster
Lead for pain, inflammation, sex health, urology, respiratory and ophthalmology
in Pfizer's Worldwide Commercial Development Group. Between 2003 and 2006, Mr. Richardson
served as Vice President of Pfizer’s diversified products, targeted brands and dermatology
and ophthalmology therapy areas. Prior to 2004, Mr. Richardson served in a several
roles of increasing senior responsibility with the Upjohn Company, Pharmacia and
Upjohn and Pharmacia. He holds a BSc (honors) in Physiology from the University
of Leeds, United Kingdom.
